Travel & Arrival
Please arrive by 13 February or by 12h00 on 14 February at the latest. Arriving a day or two early allows time to settle in, adjust to the time difference if needed, and enjoy Cape Town before training starts.
Fly into Cape Town International Airport (CPT). It offers direct flights from major hubs including London, Amsterdam, Paris, Frankfurt, Sao Paulo, Doha and Dubai.
It may be cheaper to search for flights to Johannesburg and then book a separate domestic flight to Cape Town using local airlines such as FlySafair, Lift, Airlink or SAA. You can also compare flights on Google Flights or Travelstart.
If you arrive internationally at O.R. Tambo in Johannesburg and connect to a domestic flight, you will need to collect your luggage and check in again for your local flight.
After international arrivals, turn left and follow signs for Terminal B / domestic departures, then take the escalators or lift to the departure level. Allow at least 2 hours between international and domestic flights, and more if you want extra buffer for delays.
Cape Town International Airport is around 20–25 minutes from Workshop17. Transport options include Uber, airport taxis, pre-booked shuttles and the MyCiTi Bus to the city centre. Transfers are not included, but the team can advise on the best options.

Cape Town is vibrant and welcoming. As in any major city, keep valuables secure, avoid walking around with valuables visible, use hotel safes, use Uber or hotel-arranged taxis, and stay aware of your surroundings. Workshop17 and the surrounding area are well patrolled and secure.
The local currency is the South African Rand (ZAR). ATMs and card payments are widely available. Bureau de Change services can be found at Johannesburg or Cape Town International airports, hotels and large centres like the V&A Waterfront. However, avoid carrying large sums of cash and never accept help from strangers at ATMs.
Budget roughly USD $50–$150 per day for coffee, meals, souvenirs and optional outings, depending on your tastes and activities. Accommodation and optional activities are extra.
Allowed quantities include: 2 litres of wine or 1 litre of spirits per person over 18, cigarettes not exceeding 200 units, cigars not exceeding 20 units, 250g of cigarette or pipe tobacco, perfume not exceeding 50ml and eau de toilette not exceeding 250ml per person.
