Location & Venue
KwaZulu-Natal is a province of South Africa and home to the Zulu Kingdom. It is situated on the East coast of South Africa and enjoys a sub-tropical climate with hot humid Summers and very mild Winters. The warm Indian Ocean and gorgeous sandy beaches make it a popular destination for local and foreign tourists.
Getting there:
To get to KwaZulu-Natal and the retreat venue, you will have to travel to Durban, its capital city. Transfers are at fixed times, so please arrange your flights accordingly. Participants will be collected from King Shaka International Airport and Umzumbe between 17 and 18 August 2024 (Arrivals) and 25th – 26th August 2024 (Departures). We will do our best to assist those arriving or departing on other days.
Retreat location – Umzumbe:
Umzumbe is a little seaside town situated approximately one hundred kilometers to the South of Durban between the Mzumbe and Ingambili Rivers in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. The town is named after the river Mzumbe, which supposedly got its name from a band of Hlongwa cannibals who used to occupy the valley. The Hlongwa were almost wiped out by the Zulu King, Shaka, in 1828. Other translations of Mzumbe are: ‘the dangerous river’, ‘the winding river’ or ‘wild bean river’.
